Biography:

A passionate and committed educator, Debbie is a Principal Fellow of AdvanceHE, a National Teaching Fellow, and an elected member of their National Committee (ANTF). She previously served for six years on the Association for Learning Development in Higher Education (ALDinHE) National Steering Group. Her expertise is in learning design and blending learning, underpinned by hybrid learning theory. She advises programmes, teams and individuals on how to motivate and engage a diverse student body by encouraging and modelling learning design that empowers students to learn at a time and place of their own choosing.

Her research interests in digital, augmented and immersive worlds influence national policy through her published work, keynote addresses and policy articles. In 2020 she worked as part of the iLRN’s State of XR and Immersive Learning Expert Panel and she is currently working as part of the community of experts re-writing the digital health and wellbeing recommendations that will inform the new EU Digicomp framework.
